Norah is our new Preschool Movement and Music Teacher! She will be teaching both Mondays and Wednesdays Preschool classes.
Norah Rendell (www.norahrendell.com) specialises in both performance and education of traditional music with a degree in music education from McGill University and an MA in Traditional Irish Music Performance from the University of Limerick. In Canada, Norah developed numerous 'music for young children' programmes based on the methodologies of Orff and Kodaly and has given educational performances in primary schools both on historical European music and Canadian roots music. At the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (University of Limerick), Norah lectured in Ear, Notation and Theory, taught flute, whistle, and coached singing and instrumental ensembles. Norah has also given guest lectures and workshops at University College Cork in the Irish song tradition. As a performer, Norah tours extensively as the lead vocalist and flautist of UK/Ireland based band, The Outside Track and with guitarist, Brian Miller.
Danielle Enblom is an established Assistant-Instructor with OID! She will be teaching Beginners classes in St. Paul on Mondays, instructing all Tuesday classes at Jawaahir, and also ran our Summer Camp program!
Danielle began her dancing career at the age of 5 with ballet, modern and jazz. She fell in love with Irish step dancing 4 years later and started dancing competitively with local Irish dance schools. Danielle has since expanded her knowledge of traditional Irish dance to encompass ceili, set and sean-nos (old style) Irish dancing. Danielle, who is also a fiddle player, began her career as a teacher in Ireland while studying music and dance at University College Cork. She took the opportunity to teach Irish dance classes in both Cork City and Kinsale. Since returning to the Twin Cities in 2006 Danielle has continued to teach classes that are driven by her passion for music, dance, teaching and performing.
